Summary

We were shown and demonstrated on how to assemble and disassemble a PC. After the demonstrated, we were given the chance to assemble and disassembled the PC and see if we can turn the monitor on. We were later tested and evaluated based on how we well we know the PC parts and understand the steps.

Steps to dissamble a PC

Steps for PC assembly is the reverse order of this list.

  1. Switch off the CPU/computer
  2. Open the system unit casing
  3. Disconnect the cables
  4. Take out the power supply
  5. Take out the RAM
  6. Take out the HDD
  7. Take out CPU fan

Reflection

As a computer science student, it is important to not only understand software but also the underlying hardware architecture. The PC assembly lets us have a hands on experience with hardware and identifying essential hardware components like CPU, RAM, motherboard, HDD and power supply. Suggestion for improvement is to study the components beforehand to be prepared for the PC assembly session and quiz.
